Leonardo Di Pisa was a mathematician who lived from 1180 untill 1250 in Pisa. In his book ’Liber Abaci’ (1202) he introduced the Hindu-Arabic Numeral System (based on ten numerals: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) in Europe. It is this numeral system we still use today and it is fair to say that this system is a keystone of our culture. Leonardo is not the developer of this numeral system (Brahmagupta, India, 598-668) but he is responsible for introducing and spreading it in Europe. We now know Leonardo under the name of Fibonacci. In the same book he also introduced his Fibonacci Numbers: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233 and so on….

Leonardo Di Pisa deserves for his achievements more acknowledgement especially in his home town: LEONARDO DI PISA CONFERENCE HALL.
